Kings point guard Rajon Rondo reportedly directed an anti-gay slur toward referee Bill Kennedy that led to his suspension without pay for Tuesday’s game against the Houston Rockets. The NBA announced the suspension Friday, saying only that the punishment was for “directing a derogatory and offensive term towards a game official and not leaving the court in a timely manner upon his ejection” in a 114-97 loss to the Boston Celtics on Dec. 3 in Mexico City. Rondo was assessed two technical fouls and ejected by Kennedy with 6:30 left in the third quarter. Kennedy revealed to Yahoo Sports on Sunday that he is gay. According to Yahoo, in the game officials’ report used as part of the NBA’s investigation, Kennedy and follow referee Ben Taylor described Rondo’s post-ejection tirade as including anti-gay slurs. Rondo declined to be interviewed following Monday’s practice.
